Tell us about your station:

New Life Radio focuses on 2 things. Playing hits and playing them a lot. We also focus on a deep community connection by allowing our station to be an extension of the listeners faith. We encourage them to share our station as they would share pieces of their life. So they end up talking about our station like they would a dear friend. New life radio is a living breathing part of the community. We also love to expose our listeners to GREAT music which we believe our format has. We can win with our product. I love it!

Your station’s most successful promotion:

In September we did a “20 for 1” promotion. It takes .20 cents to pay for one meal to Haiti. We had drop off points for change as well as live broadcasts where listener came out to drop change. We raised enough to pay for 25,000 meals! It was amazing seeing children who have saved money being their piggy banks to spread the Gospel through meals to Haiti.

Resources your station uses:

We are very scaled down so aside from Facebook and local content we have no prep services. We use our listeners as resources for local stories and content. Our Facebook has been a HUGE resource in this. As well as a super interactive morning show.

One bit of wisdom to share with others:

At Starbucks just last week a listener that I had no idea was there paid for my coffee and left. This backs up what I have tried to live out everyday. People are listening and watching EVEN when I’m not on the air. With that in mind I can win or lose off the air just as much as I can win and influence on the air. This is a precious gift we have been given to represent Jesus in broadcast form. One of the things our listeners say often is “you guys are the same off the air as you are on the air” that is one of the greatest compliments we can get.

Share an impactful listener story:

During the morning show it gets crazy busy. One morning a young lady called and we happen to take her call live on air. She was at the point of suicide and had no one else to call. Her parents listened to the station so she knew it was a place to go. We prayed and stopped the show for her and we all prayed on air for her. She accepted Jesus on the air that day and to this day she attends church and calls frequently.

Tell us why you’re a member of CMB:

This is my first time as a Gold member and I am looking forward to it. CMB has already been so great to embrace our station and me as a programmer.

Wise, Weird & Welcome: Learning and Leading with the Lepers and the Locust Eaters

We’ve all read the same books about teamwork, leadership, communication, and culture that everybody reads. We’ve mastered Maxwell, studied Sanborn, Sinek, and Sun Tzu, and liberally cribbed Collins in aborted attempts to go from good to great, but…

How’s that working out for you?

What if you left St. Louis with an entirely new lens through which to view and act upon improvements in:

Let’s examine how this all connects together, but approach it from an entirely different angle. Don’t just think outside the box. Kick the box to the curb and start at zero.
