Tell us about your station:

Life 97.9 is a part of Northwestern Media, and because of that we are truly blessed with the sharing of some very talented people and resources. Life 97.9 is a station in one of the fastest growing parts of the country. This continual growth creates new opportunities everyday to connect with new listeners.

Your station’s most successful promotion:

The Valley’s Largest Baby Shower is by far the most impactful promotion each year. The Valley’s Largest Baby Shower is simply that, a baby shower where we invite our listening family to drop off brand new baby items, everything from diapers and wipes to everything needed for a new baby, at area stores. Those items are then collected by a local ministry that helps new moms and dads who are making life affirming choices. This promotion is held in January, which is sanctity of human life month. I know there is just one week in January dedicated to that but we feel it is easy just to make the month a focus on life without being political. It is a great way for listeners to be the hands and feet of Jesus in a tangible way.

Resources your station uses:

Life 97.9 is a part of Northwestern Media which gives us the opportunity to get wisdom and insights from some of the most fantastic, humble and gifted people in the industry.

One bit of wisdom to share with others:

Two things. First have fun. Don’t take yourself too seriously, and enjoy the moment. Secondly build relationships. No matter how busy you are, or feel you are, take time to build relationships. Relationships, relationships, relationships are so important, and I’m talking about all relationships, faith, family, work, in all walks of life. First should be your relationship with Jesus. How can we serve others if we don’t first know Him, and how can we serve them if we don’t know them? I believe the greatest reward is building relationships to serve others.

Share an impactful listener story:

There are too many stories to share, however a theme we’ve seen for several years now is hearing from listeners who were going to take their lives, and God used a song to remind them how much He loved and cared for them, and it was in that moment of hearing the right song at the right time a life was saved.

Tell us why you’re a member of CMB:

I appreciated this year’s CMB event, my first. The speakers were off the hook in challenging, encouraging and motivating.

Wise, Weird & Welcome: Learning and Leading with the Lepers and the Locust Eaters

We’ve all read the same books about teamwork, leadership, communication, and culture that everybody reads. We’ve mastered Maxwell, studied Sanborn, Sinek, and Sun Tzu, and liberally cribbed Collins in aborted attempts to go from good to great, but…

How’s that working out for you?

What if you left St. Louis with an entirely new lens through which to view and act upon improvements in:

Let’s examine how this all connects together, but approach it from an entirely different angle. Don’t just think outside the box. Kick the box to the curb and start at zero.
