We began in 1985 at just 383 watts. We have had 2 power increases and are now a full powered 100,000 watt station. We also added a 2nd signal 91.9 KAVX which is teaching and talk format during the week and praise and worship on the weekends. Together these 2 stations cover 13 Texas Counties and 4 Louisiana Parrish’s. Our mission is to serve others by being real, share hope that changes lives, and connect people to a real and loving God.

Over 4,000 children received school supplies, 3,000 children received school uniforms and a new pair of shoes. KSWP partnered with Junior League of Lufkin, Buckner Shoes, Greater East Texas Community Action and many area business’s who helped as drop off locations.

One bit of wisdom to share with others:

Don’t take yourself to seriously.

Share an impactful listener story:

Last year, due to some circumstances in my life, this radio station helped save my life.
I was having some tragic deaths in my family. I was very depressed. I was on my way home from the last death in Lufkin. I was going to go home and commit suicide. On my way home, this radio station, a song came on and by the time I got home God had already moved in my life. I changed my thoughts and the way I felt. I was really at the bottom of the barrel when I drove by this station and saw KSWP and changed my radio station over – God spoke to me. Thanks! Ruby

Ruby shared her story when she began volunteering became a 360 donor for the station. She is a faithful volunteer full of joy!

Tell us why you’re a member of CMB:

Since day one this station has supported and enjoyed the benefits of membership to CMB. At least one staff member attends every summit and whenever possible we bring as many staff as is applicable. We also attend and send as many staff as possible to Momentum every September. We believe the expense is an investment in our staff and the future success of our station(s). As a Program Director I appreciate the excitement and passion sending my staff to an event generates. I can coach them on things everyday but when they go and experience things and hear things from others in the industry it really sinks in and as a result I firmly believe my station(s) sound better. I also appreciate the spiritual refueling that takes place at these events without fail God will speak to me as I travel see and meet new artists and make connections with others in the industry. The CMB website, mobile app and forums are also a great connection for resources and advice. As a non-comm I think I use the underwriting forum at least once a week when I have questions on guidelines and legalities. The staff and leadership of CMB also genuinely care about your needs and feedback which is something I really appreciate!

Wise, Weird & Welcome: Learning and Leading with the Lepers and the Locust Eaters

We’ve all read the same books about teamwork, leadership, communication, and culture that everybody reads. We’ve mastered Maxwell, studied Sanborn, Sinek, and Sun Tzu, and liberally cribbed Collins in aborted attempts to go from good to great, but…

How’s that working out for you?

What if you left St. Louis with an entirely new lens through which to view and act upon improvements in:

Let’s examine how this all connects together, but approach it from an entirely different angle. Don’t just think outside the box. Kick the box to the curb and start at zero.
