Tell us about your station:
THE Q90.1 came on the air in December of 2012. It’s the first LOCAL, CCM station in the Worcester, MA market. Our mission is to share hope and encouragement through music that’s real, relevant and connects. We are hyper focused on community involvement with the city, churches and organizations that make a positive difference in our community.
Your station’s most successful promotion:
SHARE THE LOVE Campaign
We ask listeners, college students, small groups & classrooms to create handmade Valentine Day cards, sign them and send them to THE Q. We then deliver them to housing units, assisted care facilities through Central Massachusetts. Literally thousands of cards have been distributed.
Resources your station uses:
We have used consultants in the past. We use local news websites to talk local things that are positive and relevant. Some of our show prep is also our life. How can we be vulnerable and relate.
One bit of wisdom to share with others:
Christian CCM radio in New England is not the same nationally. It’s HARD! New Englanders are a tough crowd…I know, because I am one. 🙂 But once you know them, they are your best friend. It’s breaking through the “Christian” barrier and having an honest, real conversation about life & faith. The wisdom would be…JUST BE REAL. That can go a long way.
Share an impactful listener story:
My cousin by listening to your station she has accepted Christ as her Savior I THANK GOD AND I WANNA THANK YOU GUYS SO MUCH!!!! You guys have planted a seed in her heart thank you Lord. I thank you guys for being used by God. – Lilibet
