Tell us about your station:

91.7FM is a radio station for the millennial generation. We provide music and a message of hope, unity and love. We understand that our target audience may or may not believe in God, and is struggling to figure out who they are and where they fit in. They want to learn more about faith and be a part of something positive, but would like it done in a new and creative way. NGEN, is that unique element they can connect with daily. NGEN radio focuses on concepts that will shine light on God’s great love for his people, forgiveness and grace. We avoid abstract thoughts in the bible that cause separation. We don’t over spiritualize ideas, but utilize the right moments to attach a spiritual truth. Rather than curse the darkness, we turn on the light in dark places making ourselves not only an alternative but also a solution to negative energy. Our positioning statement is “Where You Belong.” We want our listener base to feel like part of the family, but we will communicate in a way that non-Christians will understand. We incorporate current events, news info, traffic, weather, sports and other pertinent information that is valuable to the everyday listener. No judgment or preconceived style, just good music and real people bringing a positive difference for our audience.

Your station’s most successful promotion:

We offered a promotion for our listeners to win an opportunity to ride in a party bus with Andy Mineo and listen to unreleased music never heard before by anyone. Not only did Andy share exclusive music, he was personable, transparent, answered questions and really made the experience great for the winners. It made a real connection with our listeners!

One bit of wisdom to share with others:

Be yourself. Create your own unique sound and method. Make History. God created you an original, don’t die a copy. What I am saying is, there are a lot of radio stations that sound a like and do the same things. Try to break outside the normal realm and bring something special to the table.

Share an impactful listener story:

We had a listener that was driving cross country that was contemplating suicide. When they came through Houston and stumbled on NGEN’s 91.7FM Frequency it helped fill them with hope. It caused them to lose the urge to take their life. They emailed us and told us about the story.

Tell us why you’re a member of CMB:

Having CMB memberships has really given our staff the information and insight into the Christian music industry needed to be successful. CMB gives you an opportunity to not only learn who the decision makers are, but you get to shake hands, meet them and learn practical ways to be successful once you get back to your hometown. The bible says iron sharpens iron and I can say I left CMB sharp. This conference really pours into it’s attendees. It is educational, motivational and inspirational at the same time.

Wise, Weird & Welcome: Learning and Leading with the Lepers and the Locust Eaters

We’ve all read the same books about teamwork, leadership, communication, and culture that everybody reads. We’ve mastered Maxwell, studied Sanborn, Sinek, and Sun Tzu, and liberally cribbed Collins in aborted attempts to go from good to great, but…

How’s that working out for you?

What if you left St. Louis with an entirely new lens through which to view and act upon improvements in:

Let’s examine how this all connects together, but approach it from an entirely different angle. Don’t just think outside the box. Kick the box to the curb and start at zero.
