Tell us about your station:

94.9 KLTY has served the Dallas/Fort Worth community for 30+ years. Live and local through and through, our morning host Frank Reed and mid-day personality Bonnie Curry have each been at the station 20+ years. Afternoon host Tony Lopez and Night Light host Andrea have each been here more than 15 years. Celebrate Freedom, our annual free one-day concert, just celebrated it’s 26th year in 2016 and we’ve seen more than 1 million in attendance since inception.

Your station’s most successful promotion:

It’s on going! The 94.9 KLTY Christmas Wish has been a staple in DFW for over 12 years. It was created as a way to help others in need around Christmas time in Dallas/Fort Worth. Over the years it’s evolved into a 501c3 organization raising more than $5 million dollars over the years and helping thousands in need locally. Every year between Thanksgiving and Christmas the Family Friendly Morning Show broadcasts live each morning. Listeners can come by and either donate monetarily or choose a family in need to bless. The donations are then used to bless other families in need.

Resources your station uses:

We rely heavily on the local listeners of Dallas/Fort Worth interacting with them on air, online and at events. Social media is a huge contributing factor as well allowing us to be in touch with them but also giving us access to an incredible source of local information.

One bit of wisdom to share with others:

Play the hits….

Share an impactful listener story:

During a Christmas Wish broadcast, we were live on the air with a listener who had chosen to adopt a family. While talking about this family (first names only), the husband of said family happened to be at the broadcast looking for someone to adopt as well. They were struggling but still felt that God wanted them to give back. They had no idea that someone had nominated them for a Christmas Wish. All this played out live on air as the connection was made and the two people cried and embraced. Still gives me chills.

Wise, Weird & Welcome: Learning and Leading with the Lepers and the Locust Eaters

We’ve all read the same books about teamwork, leadership, communication, and culture that everybody reads. We’ve mastered Maxwell, studied Sanborn, Sinek, and Sun Tzu, and liberally cribbed Collins in aborted attempts to go from good to great, but…

How’s that working out for you?

Let’s examine how this all connects together, but approach it from an entirely different angle. Don’t just think outside the box. Kick the box to the curb and start at zero.
