One of our clients asked me the other day how I was able to have such fast success at such a young age.
My answer: Mentors.
After grad school, I didn’t know what to do. My life plan was a dumpster fire and I had no idea what I wanted to do next.
And I’ve learned that when you get to the end of yourself, it’s the perfect time to find a mentor.
I found someone who had been at the top of her game (first female VP at Deloitte!) and flew to NYC to be mentored by her.
I didn’t know what I wanted to do, but I figured that she had the wisdom and the system to help me.
I still remember our first meeting. She asked me what I wanted to be known for. I told her: helping people find motivation and live a life of purpose.
She asked me how I was going to do that.
My response: I have no idea.
I had no clue at the time that I would have to spend 8 more years to solve that problem for myself before I could help thousands so the same.
But I needed someone outside of me to give perspective that I couldn’t give myself.
So if feel like you’re exhausted and overwhelmed trying to pick the right move, here is my advice:
– Get a mentor.
Don’t just pick someone in your industry or someone you know. Some of the best mentors I ever had weren’t directly in my space – but they had the exact perspective I needed.
– Check their results.
Don’t just believe their word for it that they can help you. Find out who like you they have helped and how long it took them to get great results.
– Commit and mean it.
When you find someone who can help you, commit. Don’t waste their time (and yours) going back and forth. Jump in, do what they say, and experience great results.
If you’re ready for a mentor— you’re doing it on your own and you want the roadmap to finally fulfill your potential, DM me ROADMAP and I’ll share with you over chat how we help people.
Remember that if you haven’t gotten the results you want, you aren’t following the right plan.
