It’s the most wonderful time of year, but it can also be one of the busiest. It might seem like there are no free moments to put some Christmas content on your social and digital platforms this season; however, I’ve got some great ideas for you!
- Serenade your listeners with Christmas Carols on Facebook Live – Grab your DJs for some caroling with your listeners on Facebook (make sure you’re going live during one of your peak times.)
Invite your listeners to request their favorite Christmas songs Live and have the DJs take turns singing them! This is an easy and fun way to engage with your listeners. It makes them feel special, and it’s also entertaining content to talk about on-air (Don’t forget to promote ahead of time and utilize FB & Instagram stories to promote as well.) Also, don’t stress. You don’t have to have everyone in one place. Use a program like Streamyard to have everyone on screen together.
- Host a Christmas Storytime on Facebook Live – Grab a DJ or two and encourage listeners to gather around with their children as you read a story like “The Very First Christmas” from the Beginners Bible. Encourage listeners to ask their kids what their favorite part was and share in the comments.
? Bonus: Give away some coffee/hot chocolate gift cards and copies of whatever story you decide to read for your listeners to enjoy during the storytelling time, as well as follow along. It’s a great way to drum up excitement about Christmas Storytime!
- Digital Christmas Scavenger Hunt – Make a list of questions and have listeners find the answers in specific places on your website. Once they’ve gotten all of the answers, have them submit their sheet for the chance to win a prize.
For example, if you want your listeners to check out what podcasts you have, send them to your podcast page by asking a question like, “What’s the title of the latest Christmas Episode released by Dave & Trisha?” Or, if you want them to see what concerts and events you have coming up, you can send them to that page and ask, “What artist is coming to town on December 15th?”
You can also tease the questions and Scavenger hunt in your Facebook and Instagram Stories and send out the questions in your weekly email.
Before You Go LIVE
We understand that going LIVE may still be intimidating, and it’s ok to feel that way. The ability to stream in the moment allows your station to broadcast video content directly to your audience. Get the top 7 Facebook LIVE tips to make it easier for you to go live without being stung by the process.
What’s More Exciting…
What’s more exciting than the birth of Jesus? Christmas is like the Super Bowl for Christian radio, and I hope some of these ideas will help you celebrate with your listeners. Let me know if I can help spread holiday cheer this season!
