Programming Summit – Atlanta 2018

PROGRAMMING MOMENTUM SUMMIT  •  Thursday, February 2nd  •  8:30a – 5:00p

Whether you’re new on-air or a seasoned veteran, you’ll benefit from this opportunity to learn from top talent in Christian Music radio, as we all strive to grow our audience. Join us for a full day focused on fine-tuning the connecting fiber for any radio station – on-air personalities. We’ll cover how to keep your listeners engaged through storytelling, connecting with your audience by being authentic, creatively sharing your faith on-air, and more. If you’re on the air, want to be on the air, or manage those on the air, your day will be jam packed with takeaways and key networking opportunities in the first-ever Momentum On-Air Summit!

What came first, the Social or the Media?  •  Lisa Barry Middays – 98.5 KTIS/Minneapolis and Spirit 105.9/Austin

You can crunch the analytic social media numbers all you want, but when it comes to increasing your engagement, analytics can’t make up for a deficit in the ‘social’. Lisa Barry will share how you can make a few tweaks to the ‘why’ and the ‘how’ to your social media best-practices…and watch your engagement explode!

Let’s Talk About God on the Radio  •  Brant Hansen Storyteller, CURE International, Radio Host, & Author

People – all people – are desperately yearning for God. We know that. So why not be the station, or the show, that “goes there”? It’s hard to prep, and it can be tricky to deliver on-air, but no other station can deliver what we can. Brant will share exactly how he fills his show with content every day (this will make your show prep easier and your show better) and how to craft what we say in a way that’s disarming, natural, and makes people feel welcome.

The Planning And Execution Of Killer Content  •  Randy Lane – The Randy Lane Company

Killer content is born in the planning process. Randy will share the planning methods used by the most successful air personalities. You’ll learn how to tap into your own creativity, and group planning techniques that lead to A-level content. Randy will also reveal how to choose content that connects emotionally with listeners, and how to execute your ideas for maximum impact for diary and PPM markets.

Storytelling that Makes Listeners Listen  •  Lisa Williams – Host, Life with Lisa Williams

Every day, we lovingly churn out content to our weary listener.  With thousands vying for her attention, how do we break through the roar and captivate her heart with a moment?  This session will cover how to chose your stories, how to block your stories, and how to tell your stories in a way that makes a listener listen.

Real and Relatable. How to Let the Real You Shine On the Air.  •  Mandy Young – Middays, Air1 Network

What holds us back from being real on the air? How can we relate to the person listening without making it all about us? How can you be relatable over a ramp or talking about a station promo? Whether being real or relatable comes naturally or you struggle to get the real you on the air, this session is full of great tips (and exercises…yay!) to take the real you to the next level.

Matt Stockman • 5 Ways To Be Better On-Air Tomorrow
In this session, we’re going to discuss 5 simple things that you can begin to do tomorrow to make your on air presence better than it’s ever been. In addition, we’ll listen together to some airchecks submitted by you! I’ll share my thoughts on what’s working and whats not in your on air presentation, and how to make it better!
Beth Bacall  • Prep YOUR Show: Prep for Your Unique Personality and Day-part
Every break matters; prepping for who you are, whose you are, and what time you are on the air is critical to a successful radio show. This breakout session offers a look at how you can best prep for your personality, day-part, and stations specific mission. Beth will cover:
-taking the time to learn or refresh your view on your on air role.
-discover the best sources for prep and storytelling tips.
All participants will leave equipped with the basics on how to create a personalized prep sheet that can be used before every show.
Randy Lane  • The Art of the Quarter Hour
Talent Coach Randy Lane’s breakout session will  reveal the execution techniques that help you engage and maintain today’s short-attention span audience.  The session outlines how captivating setups, pattern disruptions, and provocative teases puts you in control of your own ratings.  Learn these insightful devices from the guy who has coached everyone from Lisa Williams to Wally to Mandy Young.

and more!

Wise, Weird & Welcome: Learning and Leading with the Lepers and the Locust Eaters

We’ve all read the same books about teamwork, leadership, communication, and culture that everybody reads. We’ve mastered Maxwell, studied Sanborn, Sinek, and Sun Tzu, and liberally cribbed Collins in aborted attempts to go from good to great, but…

How’s that working out for you?

What if you left St. Louis with an entirely new lens through which to view and act upon improvements in:

Let’s examine how this all connects together, but approach it from an entirely different angle. Don’t just think outside the box. Kick the box to the curb and start at zero.
