What led you to a career in the radio industry?
It was ALL God! My area of expertise is in print media as a photojournalism, but God knew! I decided to relocate from Ohio to Missouri and just at the right time. A position opened at The Wind and I fit right in.
What advice would you give people new to the business?
Love people! I think it’s easy to lose your way and worry about the small things. You know, the promotion that didn’t go so well numbers wise or the event that had a few bumps in the planning phase – all of those things are so small when we face the reality that what we should be most concerned about is loving people and showing them the love of Jesus.
Give a shout out to someone who is making a difference in radio and what are they doing to make an impact?
Let’s give a shout out to our engineers! We wouldn’t be here without them and their hard work. Dave Anderson, Aaron “Hammy” Schultz, Avery Ditmars, Ted McCall and Lee Brown (I hope I’m not missing any!)! Fellas, you’re the real MVP! THANK YOU!
Tell us about a project or accomplishment that you consider to be the most significant in your career.
We host a Backpack Drive before the school year starts and last year was my first experience organizing the event and it was so incredible to see the community come together to provide food for students who would have otherwise gone hungry. Thousands of students were blessed and all because our listeners desired to meet the need.
Tell us about a story of a Christian song that made a difference in your life or the life of a listener.
On a personal note, “Take Courage” by Bethel Music is one of my favorite worship songs because in so many seasons of life I have needed reminding of: “Take courage my hear, stay steadfast my soul…HE’s in the waiting” and this song says it perfectly. Our Father has a plan that beats any plan we could ever made or ever dream up. He brings peace, he brings joy and He strengthens us even in the unknown and in the waiting seasons.
