The Director, Broadcast and A/V Support position exists to lead the Engineering team, which provides professional and technical services for all ministry broadcast, audio and video equipment and leads the Broadcast Distribution team, which delivers all out-going audio and video programming.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
Delivers consistently excellent customer support for all internal clients
Regularly meets with internal stakeholders to discern needs and make recommendations regarding A/V equipment acquisition, installation, maintenance, and replacement
Is responsible for problem solving, identification of systems and gear, help with procurement, installation, support and maintenance, and planning replacement of all organizational broadcast and A/V equipment
Leads team of highly qualified technical engineers, directing prioritization of workflow to ensure overall ministry objectives are achieved
Establishes systems and metrics to maintain optimal service levels
Is the point person for all engineering and delivery support
Stays current on broadcast and A/V equipment, and delivery system trends
Coordinates team and/or personal attendance at industry trade shows to keep abreast of new technology
Reviews and recommends capital purchases
Prepares annual budget; controls expenses to budget
Selects, develops, motivates, supervises, and evaluates immediate staff
Prepares annual department budget; controls cost to budget
Supervises the operation of the Broadcast Distribution System (BDS)
Oversees all operational aspects of the distribution and delivery systems, including maintenance of Broadcast Distribution Systems, interfacing with distribution provider (AmBos), serving media distribution clients
Works with satellite leasing clients, vendors for new equipment and repairs, and other external individuals and companies
Oversees setup of remote feeds via ISDN, Internet, and satellite
Operates digital KU satellite uplink
Ensures documentation of wiring changes with Autocad
Other Duties/Responsibilities:
Supervises independent contractors as needed
Assists and advises other departments on capital A/V equipment budgets
Develops detailed design and oversees construction of related facilities
Consults for affiliate radio stations in quality related matters as needed
Performs other duties as assigned
Managerial Breadth/Scope of Job:
Manages staff of Broadcast Engineers and Media Delivery/Satellite Operators
Working Environment/Physical Activities:
Office environment
Some manual labor involved in AV equipment installation and maintenance

Personal Characteristics:

Knowledge/Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in Communications or related field (i.e., Media, IT)
7-10 years of experience in management of operations
Skills, Abilities and Special Talents/Gifts:
Demonstrated ability to lead a technical team
Ability to effectively work through others to accomplish objectives
Working knowledge of business, finance, and accounting principles
Ability to communicate tactfully (orally and in writing) at all organizational levels
Strong organizational skills
Competent in use of PC software
Ability to do complex planning for a multi-function department
Must be computer software literate, to work with word processors, databases, spreadsheets
Oversee specialized machine control and communication software development
Can solve complex problems in crisis situations
Ability to function effectively and efficiently on cross-functional teams
Stewardship Requirements:
Equipment replacement
Directly responsible for budget management
Salary Range: $83,196 to $95,157/yr
