SUMMARY
The Morning Co-Host/Sales Position will encompass and fulfill Spring Arbor University Radio station’s missions to inspire Jackson and the surrounding communities with music and conversation that reflects Christ in a relevant way; And, to share the story of Spring Arbor University through Christian music in south-central Michigan; while developing business relationships and sell commercials/underwriting for both stations to secure funds for SAU Radio. Full time position, 35 hours per week.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.  Other duties may be assigned by proper personnel.

ATTENDANCE & PARTICIPATION

Attendance and participation during scheduled staff meetings and professional development opportunities
Regular communication with management to review and improve on and off-air performance
Ability to maintain a flexible schedule, with some evening and weekend assignments
Ability to work without close supervision, yet as part of a team
Serve on University and community committees as assigned and requested.

SALES-SPECIFIC
Sell underwriting spots/sponsorships for 89.3 The Arbor with monthly and annual sales goals
Participate in fundraising activities; Pledge drive and donor connections
Sell additional commercials for 106.9 HOME.fm as requested.
Write and produce spots for clients.
Assist with details of on-air scheduling of purchased spots and partnerships
Represent SAU Radio at community events and through networking opportunities as requested by supervisor.
Community & On-Air Content:
Co-Host a show with partner which represents the overall mission of HOME.fm
Communicate spiritual truths through everyday language in an effort to convey the mission of HOME.fm to the Jackson community.
Work with radio staff to consistently develop ideas and segments to enhance the structure and impact of HOME.fm on the community.
Initiate listener interaction on-air, online and at public at events, with the ability to represent the station in a variety of settings
Interact with student employees and interns involved with radio station
Execute on-air promotions to best highlight and represent our advertisers and sponsors.

TECHNICAL
Operational knowledge of radio soundboard, automation and audio production software, and other related equipment as necessary.
Ability to research and prepare for assigned air shift by developing timely, relevant and relatable topics to the strategic target of the radio station
Gather and summarize raw information from various, reliable sources to contribute to show
Accurately deliver news, weather, live copy and spontaneous conversation in a pleasant voice and delivery style
Knowledge and understanding of programming clocks and schedules helpful
Knowledge and understanding of radio station and FCC rules relating to broadcasting stations helpful

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred, preferably in broadcast, communications, business or another related field.
Previous on-air experience a minimum of three years preferred
Sales experience is required.

Ensures programs remain consistent to the mission of SAU as embodied in the Concept.
Provides leadership for SAU Radio to ensure excellent team morale.
Provides top-notch customer service resulting in no customer complaints.
Meets sales goals for SAU Radio to profit and promote positive branding in the community.

REPORTING RESPONSIBILITIES
Serves as a member of the advancement team, reporting to Sales & Promotions Coordinator, showing care and respect for team members and the SAU Community by embracing the principles of the SAU Community Covenant.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This job has no supervisory responsibilities. May supervise student staff as needed. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
