What is your life verse and why?
Philippians 1: 3-6 has always had a special meaning to me. In high school that verse grabbed my heart when I thought about all of the memories made with family and friends. In radio, you naturally move a few times, and with every season of sharing a common mission with teammates comes to an end there’s a sense of that mission continuing without you – and you realize that it’s much bigger than any one person. “He who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.”
Is there anything you wished would come back into fashion?
I could probably list more things that I would NOT want coming back. LOL. Moving to Nashville in 2017 I stayed in Phil Joel’s studio garage apartment for a few weeks. Phil loves him some bell bottoms, so I bought a pair to wear to his release party in his honor. Bell bottoms > skinny jeans.
Ideally, how would you spend your birthday?
Ideally, the day would be spent surrounded by family, eating ice cream cake, and playing backyard football in early September.
What kitchen appliance do you use every day?
This is a softball question. ; ) The coffee pot. Drinking coffee at our house is a treasured tradition that is just a part of our DNA. Whether it’s working with a cup or making some as an excuse to sit down in the living room and talk we love java.
Do you have a favorite type of exercise?
I used to be constantly training for either a 5K, half or full marathon. I’ve slowed down a bit to include some brisk walking along with running. My wife and I try to walk together a few days a week. Her fast walk is like my slow jog, so sometimes one of us has to compromise. In 2020, I got 1,500 miles in and hope to do the same in 2021.
What’s your favorite season and why?
When I was growing up in Ohio, fall was my favorite season…really the month of September and October. But now Summer has become my favorite season. I love the warmth of the sun; I can almost feel the vitamin D being replenished.
What’s the best joke you’ve ever heard?
You have a .064% chance of being hit by a meteorite and dying and a .024% chance of dying from COVID-19, so take off your mask and go buy a helmet. Too soon?
What’s the phone app you use most?
Get ready for the most boring answer in the world. It would have to be the MESSAGES APP to stay in touch with family, friends and business relationships. Although I do have all of my sound notifications set to off.
Would you rather cook or order in?
Believe it or not, as a family, we eat out/order in once a week. If we had an unlimited amount of money, and with the variety of restaurants today and our work schedules, I’d rather order in…and there are less dishes to clean.
What’s your favorite board game?
It doesn’t have a “board” to play it, but our favorite card game is Euchre – it’s a Midwest thing. If you don’t know what it is ask someone who grew up in Ohio, Indiana, Michigan or Pennsylvania…or you could just Google it.
How do you take your coffee?
Man. I’ve tried to drink my coffee black. I can’t. It’s complicated. At home I account for 8 tablespoons of French vanilla creamer for 3 cups of coffee almost every day. When at Starbucks my go-to drink is a grande americano with 2 pumps of sugar free vanilla, an extra splash of half & half, and a splash of heavy cream. I know. Embarrassing.
