Industry Spotlight – Mike Kankelfritz

What Bible verse is impacting you right now and why?
Colossians 3:15 AMP  “Let the peace of Christ [the inner calm of one who walks daily with Him] be the controlling factor in your hearts [deciding and settling questions that arise]”

I love this verse for when it comes to making big decisions.  This means to me that I should let peace be the deciding factor. I have ignored peace in the past and made a decision where I felt uneasy, and they have not worked out well.

How many hours of sleep do you need?
I don’t know how much I need, but I usually get around 6 hours of sleep each night.  My family does not cooperate with me getting into bed early.

If you could eat one meal for the rest of your life what would it be?
A Ribeye with mashed potatoes from Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse!!!

Hobbies?
I used to do a lot of Home Improvement stuff. When we lived in Michigan I finished a basement with the help of a Youth Pastor that knew what he was doing. He would come over and show me how to do things like frame in walls, and then would leave while I did the rest myself. When we lived in Indy I put in a deck on the back of our house. I wish I had the time for home improvement now, but I don’t. I used to do a lot of freelance V-O, and then let it go when I didn’t need the money, but I am starting to get back into it again.

Worst gift you’ve ever received?
When my wife used to be the Marketing Director for a Hospice I attended their White Elephant gift exchange and received a Enema from one of the nurses.

How many pairs of shoes do you own?
8 pairs, but I think I only wear about 3 consistently.

What’s the weirdest thing you’ve ever eaten?
Cow tongue.  Some people consider one of my favorite sandwiches to be weird; peanut butter and pickle.

Toilet paper: over or under?
I don’t care. Is there toilet paper there? That is the question.

On a scale of 1-10, how funny would you say you are?
I have never thought of my humor rating on a scale before.  I was voted best sense of humor out of my graduating class in High School. I followed Ty McFarland’s cue and took a funny test online and scored a 7.

We’ve all read the same books about teamwork, leadership, communication, and culture that everybody reads. We’ve mastered Maxwell, studied Sanborn, Sinek, and Sun Tzu, and liberally cribbed Collins in aborted attempts to go from good to great, but…

How’s that working out for you?

Let’s examine how this all connects together, but approach it from an entirely different angle. Don’t just think outside the box. Kick the box to the curb and start at zero.
