What is your life verse and why?
35 So do not throw away this confident trust in the Lord. Remember the great reward it brings you! 36 Patient endurance is what you need now, so that you will continue to do God’s will. Then you will receive all that he has promised.
37 “For in just a little while,
the Coming One will come and not delay.
38 And my righteous ones will live by faith.[a]
But I will take no pleasure in anyone who turns away.”[b]
39 But we are not like those who turn away from God to their own destruction. We are the faithful ones, whose souls will be saved.
Hebrews 10:35-39 reminds me that Christ has made the way to God. We come to Christ by faith as the Spirit of God draws us to Him. Because of that, there is great reward and promise of life that awaits us… so let’s endure! Let us remain in Christ, with Christ’s people, and in the things of Christ. In times of turmoil… that’s an anchor to hold onto.
What was your childhood nickname?
I totally went through a phase where I tried to get “Bulldog” to stick, but that was short lived. To this day, my dad still calls me Kai-Man… does that count?
What’s your go to karaoke song?
I’ve worked on the label side of things for 13+ years now, but you seriously don’t want to hear me sing.
What’s the last book you read?
I read to my kids every night… and over the past few months, we’ve conquered The Chronicles Of Narnia, Charlie & The Chocolate Factory, and James & The Giant Peach.
What’s your favorite meme?
I rarely use them, honestly. But the Seinfeld dancing one is a go to if someone texts me that they’re adding a Fair Trade song.
Tacos or hamburgers?
Tough call! But if I was stranded on a deserted island, I’d be dreaming of In-N-Out.
What’s worse: laundry or dishes?
Our washer decided to conk out this summer (so 2020), and of course COVID delayed the delivery of our new one. Hanging out the laundromat for about a month wasn’t awesome.
Is double dipping ever acceptable?
Yes… if you’d like to buy me more queso.
Biggest pet peeve?
There’s no space between Mercy and Me, y’all. It’s all one word – MercyMe.
Dogs or cats?
I truly hate cats. Enough said.
If you could have coffee with anyone, living or dead, who would it be?
I’ve loved baseball since I was a kid, and the original reason I wanted to get into radio was listening to Seattle Mariner games on my Walkman underneath my pillow way past my bedtime. The voice of HOF broadcaster Dave Niehaus will forever be etched in my memory, and I’d love to sit down with him just to hear his baseball stories.
