What is your life verse and why?
Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. Isaiah 41:10
This verse brought me a lot of comfort and strength during two bouts of depression and anxiety.
What’s your most prized possession and why?
One of the things I inherited from my grandmother when she passed 5 years ago was her stereo. I love music, obviously, and love all the memories I have of her listening to vinyl and even some 8-tracks as she cleaned house. They don’t make them like this anymore…it’s like a big honkin’ piece of furniture!
What are you most proud of in the last year?
I’m a proud uncle! I have three nieces (McKenzie, Kamryn, and Kaylee) who are growing up way too fast! Over the last year I’ve made more of an effort to get back home to see them and the rest of my family. McKenzie is becoming an incredible hair and make-up stylist…she graduates soon! And twins Kamryn and Kaylee are killing it in sports. Kamryn plays volleyball and Kaylee plays basketball. Kaylee’s team made it to the state tournament this year and I was there to cheer her on.
Do you sleep with a top sheet? Why or why not?
Yes! Science says it’s more sanitary to sleep with the top sheet, but I like it because it’s more fabric to snuggle up in making me feel all cozy!
If you could have any zoo animal as a pet, which would it be?
This is a hard one because I’m an animal lover, but I always wanted a pet monkey as a kid.
What would be the first thing you’d do if you won the lottery?
The wise thing to do would be to pay off debt… but the adventurous side of me would book a trip to Greece!
Do you hit the snooze button or wake up immediately?
I’ve always hit snooze, but now that I do the mornings, I hit it even more times!
How would your 10-year-old self react to what you do now?
I think he would be pretty proud! I turned my bedroom into a radio station as a kid. I’d write and produce commercials, newscast, etc. I dreamed about owning my own radio station one day. These days I don’t think I want to own one, but still think my dream has come as I get to serve as program director of Christian Family Radio.
What was the best vacation you ever took and why?
A few years ago, I took a couple of weeks off and explored Europe. Half of the trip was spent in London, England and the other half in Dublin, Ireland. I got to ring in the New Year on the Waterloo Bridge with the London Eye and Big Ben in the background!
How old were you when you started working?
My first job was actually in radio at a Southern Gospel AM station in my hometown. I started when I was 14. The station was just couples of miles from school. So as soon as school was out, I’d head over to the station to do the afternoon show.
What’s the worst job you’ve ever had?
I’m fortunate to say I haven’t had a job that would fit that description!
