What is your life verse and why?
Mark 9:24. I deeply resonate with the words of the father who cries out to Jesus, “I believe; help my unbelief!” If I was cool enough, I’d get it tattooed on my arm to always keep it in front of my eyes. Maybe someday I’ll do that anyway. I find myself praying the phrase as a breath prayer many times every single day.
What’s your favorite way to spend a day off?
Relaxing at home with my family (or even alone!) and enjoying one of my hobbies. I like producing music, playing video games, watching sports… so basically sitting in a chair staring at a screen just like I do at work, apparently.
Would you rather be forced to sing along or dance to every single song you hear?
I have significantly more confidence in my singing, so let’s roll with that.
What do you remember most about your first job?
My first job was working at multi-sport entertainment venue (mini golf, go-karts, driving range, batting cages, that kind of stuff). I got to experience driving around in a small, caged vehicle while people tried to hit me with golf balls. I also learned how to dodge middle-schoolers driving motorized vehicles on a go-kart track. Now that I think about it, I really did spend most of my time trying not to get hit by stuff. Which is a good, life-prolonging skill to have, I guess.
Where’s the next place on your travel bucket list and why?
My wife and I are planning a trip to Iona next summer. It’s a tiny island off the coast of Scotland that is known for being a “thin place,” which is a Celtic Christian concept that describes a location that fosters intimacy with God. I’m very much looking forward to it!
What was your favorite age growing up?
11.
If you could magically become famous, would you want to?
I’d like to say no, because that would make me look much more self-assured. But if I’m honest, there is absolutely a part of me that craves recognition and approval from others. There are other aspects of fame I wouldn’t appreciate, however (see below). I’m not sure if I answered the question. Let’s go with: kinda?
Would you say you’re more of an extrovert or an introvert?
I’m about as introverted as they come. Which is obviously why I decided to pursue a career as a public figure in radio.
What’s your favorite ice cream topping?
Does cookie dough count as a topping? Or is that more of a mix-in? I don’t see why you couldn’t put cookie dough on top of ice cream. Who is going to stop me?
What was the last TV show you binge-watched?
Ted Lasso. Highly recommend.
Are you into podcasts? If so, what is your favorite?
I enjoy a good podcast while mowing the lawn or doing dishes. Since it’s not cool to say that your favorite podcast is your own, my favorite podcast is definitely not “The Really Real Podcast” from Real FM. Lately I’ve enjoyed listening to the BibleProject Podcast, which hosts in-depth yet accessible conversations on scripture and theology.
