WCIC Makes Tax Day a Rewarding Experience

PEORIA, IL – When you think of tax day, what comes to mind? If rewarding isn’t the word, you’re not alone. But rewarding is exactly the word that comes to mind for Amber Mills from Normal. She won a getaway to a bed and breakfast in Galena, Illinois and $200 worth of groceries in the WCIC “Extravagant or Practical” tax day giveaway.

Amber was one of dozens of people who posted a video to the WCIC Facebook page, describing what she would like to do if she were to get a big tax refund. Amber said she would use it to celebrate her fifth anniversary with her husband in an extravagant way, by visiting the area where he once served when he was enlisted in the Marines.

“Tax day can be really stressful, so the idea with this contest was to turn it around and hopefully interject a little fun into it,” said WCIC Program Director Jeremy Tracey. “It’s been great watching the videos posted by members of the WCIC community who shared a bit of their personality and described how a big tax refund would mean a lot to them.”

Jill & Jeremy from Mornings with the Traceys announced the winner on the air. The tax day giveaway is the latest in a series of contests that the WCIC ministry has developed to involve the community and increase relationship with the listening family. This giveaway meant a lot to Amber, a regular listener of the radio station.

“That is amazing; that’s going to do wonders for us,” said Amber. “Every day before the gym and before work, I listen to WCIC. It’s what keeps me calm and keeps me peaceful. Thank you guys so much!”

Wise, Weird & Welcome: Learning and Leading with the Lepers and the Locust Eaters

We’ve all read the same books about teamwork, leadership, communication, and culture that everybody reads. We’ve mastered Maxwell, studied Sanborn, Sinek, and Sun Tzu, and liberally cribbed Collins in aborted attempts to go from good to great, but…

How’s that working out for you?

What if you left St. Louis with an entirely new lens through which to view and act upon improvements in:

Let’s examine how this all connects together, but approach it from an entirely different angle. Don’t just think outside the box. Kick the box to the curb and start at zero.
