WAWZ “Star 99.1” NJ/NYC Flips HD-2 to All Aretha Franklin All The Time

WAWZ Star 99.1 honors “one of the titans of Gospel and the Queen of Soul” by flipping 99.1 HD-2 to feature Aretha Franklin’s most loved Gospel songs.

Aretha began her career as a young child singing in her father’s church.  Her first album was a gospel album titled “Songs of Faith” in 1956 and featured “Never Grow Old” and “Precious Lord Take My Hand.”  In addition to more than 100 charted singles during her career, Franklin, was recognized with 18 Grammy Awards and in 2012 was inducted into the GMA Gospel Hall of Fame.  She was 76.

The Star 99.1 HD 2 is available on the Star 99.1 app, as well as the iHeart and TuneIn apps, and through Amazon Alexa by voicing “Alexa, Enable Gospel Music.”

Serving the New York City media market, STAR 99.1 (WAWZ) is one of the largest Contemporary Christian music stations in the nation.  STAR 99.1 distributes its programming via FM, HD digital radio, on the Internet at STAR991.com, Amazon Alexa, iPhone, Android and Windows apps, and the iHeart App.  WAWZ, a ministry of Pillar of Fire, has been faithfully serving families for over 86 years.
