College football looks a lot different in Columbus, Ohio. The Saturday after Thanksgiving has become it’s own holiday signifying the day of “The Game.” The letter M is marked off everywhere visible for the week and the excitement is something you have to witness to believe. The Ohio State Buckeyes aren’t just who you root for on Saturday afternoon, OSU fandom is a lifestyle.
104.9 The River realized this passion 5 years ago and launched a unique podcast called, “The Rivalry,” focusing on the Ohio State & Michigan rivalry – headed by Michigan fanatic Jace Evans (from the River’s afternoon show) and Buckeye enthusiast Mitchell Wilson. This season marked Season 5, and with Mitch having moved on, Josh “JP” Pollock (the River’s Social Media Director) stepped in to fill the spot.
This season The Rivalry launched a video portion of the Podcast on the River’s new YouTube channel “River NOW,” became credentialed for every home Ohio State Football game, received credentials to travel to Penn State for the Ohio State game, and received credentials to attend the College Football Playoff semi-finals in Atlanta.
If Ohio State had delivered on the final kick of that game and won, Jace and JP were also credentialed to cover the National Championship game in Los Angeles. All of this was made possible by the support of listeners of the podcast. It’s been a wild Season 5 and we’re excited to see what Season 6 brings!
