Spirit 92.9 (KKJM, St. Cloud MN) listeners came together recently to help provide over 3,800 meals to those in need in the Central Minnesota community.
On October 14th the station held a one day “More Than A Meal” on air fundraiser to ask listeners to donate $5 per meal, with a $4,000 match from some local business partners, to fund two local ministries that would be making homemade Thanksgiving and Christmas meals and distributing them to those who were alone or couldn’t afford a holiday meal. Not only did the listeners match the $4,000 to cover those two needs, but they continued to give, raising an additional $11,000 that was given to a local homeless mission to help provide holiday meals there as well.
Spirit 92.9 Program Director, Jess Hart says; “We are continuously overwhelmed by the generosity of our listeners and business supporters. Anytime we present them with an opportunity to meet a need, they exceed it. We’re so grateful to be a part of a community that cares about each other and comes together to take care of one another by providing for physical needs, but more importantly, providing hope.”
