[LAS VEGAS, NV] – SOS Radio listeners STUFFED A BUS full of school supplies for some of Las Vegas’ most under-resourced schools. Over 1,500 backpacks were stuffed full of school supplies! In addition, dozens of huge moving boxes were filled with teacher supplies for these CCSD schools!
On Friday, July 26, at the Arroyo Market Square Walmart, “Stuff The Bus Day” was met with excitement and generosity from the community. SOS Radio 90.5 stayed on-site from 6am until 6pm to maximize the opportunity for participation. “Stuff The Bus Day,” was the fulfillment of a 5 week long campaign to raise backpacks, school supplies, and teacher supplies for the most underserved schools in the Clark County School District. (CCSD) Even CCSD donated a full size, 35 foot, school bus to be part of the event. SOS Radio 90.5 volunteers attached 4 large posters to the side of the bus with the beneficiary school names on them so that everyone who stopped by could write a note of encouragement for the students and teachers for the first day of school! The school bus was STUFFED by the end of the day!
Scott Herrold, Morning show host for SOS Radio 90.5 said, “I love seeing all the students who came by to STUFF THE BUS in person! For example, one of families who came by had kids who opened a snow cone stand in the park to raise money to buy school supplies for Stuff The Bus! The kids were so excited to load the backpacks and school supplies personally!
The following day, Saturday, July 27, over 70 volunteers arrived at United Way of Southern Nevada to stuff backpacks and sort through the donations. Volunteers of all ages worked cheerfully to prepare every last item to go exactly where it’s needed most.
Robert Forbes, Promotion Director & Midday DJ at SOS Radio said, “We worked with CCSD to identify 4 local schools who had no community partners. We wanted to make sure these students and teachers had the resources to start this school year on the right foot!”
