Positive Alternative Radio (PAR) earned a nearly perfect score as a certified Best Christian Workplace by the Best Christian Workplaces Institute (BCWI), signifying that the Christian media company’s culture is healthy and thriving.
“We were pleased to earn our certification last year as a Best Christian Workplace, with a very high overall score of 4.4,” Eddie Baker, President of PAR, said. “The fact that our overall score rose to 4.45 out of a possible 5 is an even bigger blessing!”
Best Christian Workplace Certified organizations are those whose team has completed the BCWI Employee Engagement Survey. To qualify as a Certified Best Christian Workplace, you have to score at least a 4.0.
The anonymous 58-question survey provides an objective, quantifiable measure of workplace culture based on nine essential factors of organizational health, which include; teams, life-giving work, talent, growth, compensation, leadership, sustainability, communication, and engagement.
“We’re so proud of this accomplishment for PAR and its dedicated team,” said Brian Sanders, Executive Vice President of PAR. “I’ve told the story many times in our industry, in blogs, and leadership forums. PAR had a broken, toxic culture just six years ago. To think this is how far we’ve come in such a short time is amazing and a testament to God’s power working in everyday people.”
Sanders noted that PAR’s increased overall score was due to increases in five main areas, including; how employees viewed the organization’s retirement plan, teamwork across departments, the quality of its programs and services to the public, teamwork within departments, and the commitment to excellence among team members.
Since 2003, BCWI has served more than 800 faith-based organizations, involving more than 300,000 total employees—from executives and senior leaders, to managers and staff.
“Receiving this certification had long been a goal of the leadership at PAR,” said Daniel Britt, Vice President of Culture Integration. “As our second year of pursuing it, we have even seen our rankings increase! Developing a workplace environment into something notable and special is actually part of why we exist. Our mission statement shows that we are to be creating and delivering experiences to inspire—not just others—but our own people to live more passionately for Jesus Christ. It’s an internal mission, as well as an external one!”
