October 3, 2019, Des Moines, IA – Northwestern Media’s Life 107.1 (KNWI – Des Moines) was a part of a special ministry day on the second day of their fall fundraiser. Teaming up with For the One and Community State Bank, Life 107.1 listeners were responsible for potentially saving the lives of 744 Ugandan women and babies.
For the One distributes “Maama Kits” to pregnant women in Uganda. The safe delivery kits include sanitary items such as surgical gloves, surgical blades, soap, and twine for cutting off an umbilical cord. Many hospitals in Uganda run out of sterile equipment and will turn away pregnant women for lack of supplies. Women with Maama Kits are able to have a doctor-attended birth using the items from the kit.
For every $30 a month gift to Life 107.1 (“Team 360”), Community State Bank sponsored three Maama Kits for pregnant women in Uganda. Because 124 Team 360’s came in on Wednesday, For the One will now have 374 Maama Kits to distribute—potentially saving 744 lives of mothers and babies in Uganda.
Lindsey Veach of For the One says, “We are completely blown away by the response from Central Iowa and the support from Community State Bank! They have provided lifesaving and hope giving Maama Kits to the expecting mothers in Uganda Africa! These 372 kits provide so much more than birthing supplies – they represent hope, the knowledge of being valued, and above all, the love of Jesus! These brand new little disciples of Christ will get the healthy start to life that they deserve! Their mothers will be there, strong and healthy, to tell them the story of how hope and love was provided through these kits.”
Life 107.1 exists to lead people to Christ and nurture believers in their spiritual growth through Christ-centered media.
