Non-Profits Welcome 160 Volunteers on Hands & Feet Service Day

On September 29, 2018 five area non-profit organizations felt the abundant love and support of their community. Volunteers from across Delmarva served non-profits during the Hands & Feet Service Day sponsored by Delaware Electric Cooperative, and organized by The Bridge Christian radio station.

Hands & Feet volunteers were deployed to Noah’s ARC Animal Rescue and Therapy Training Facility in Magnolia, DE to repair fences and buildings. In Bridgeville, DE the Home of Hope Women’s Recovery Center watched as hundreds of bricks were removed to improve the campus landscape.  T.E.A.M. Ministries by Love INC in Seaford, DE took strides to prepare their facility for year-round service with the help of volunteers.  Denton Camp, a camping and retreat center in Denton, MD had carpet removed, fences cleaned, and dorms painted. While the Young Life Tudor Farms Retreat Center in Cambridge, MD was groomed and beautified by volunteers.

In total, 160 volunteers served the selected non-profit organizations. Other tasks included cleaning, organizing, moving furniture, scraping paint, loading recycling and trash trailers, high dusting, landscaping and more.

One of the non-profits stated the Hands & Feet Service Day was like a “shot in the arm” of excitement for their organization. Another organization praised Delaware Electric Cooperative and The Bridge for the community focused event. One of the volunteers loved the opportunity the event gave her to “give back.” Another stated she wanted to show support to the organization she chose to serve on that day.

A great deal of work and to-do lists were completed. A sense of camaraderie was achieved that day and the volunteer who served look forward to what next year will hold.

The Bridge is a non-profit, community-supported Christian music radio station serving most of the Delmarva Peninsula and southern New Jersey on 88.7 FM, and also on 92.5 FM south of Salisbury, MD, and 94.3 FM in Ocean City, MD.   The station is also available online via its free app or
