(WCIE TAMPA, FL, October 12, 2022) In a special broadcast event featured on The Morning Cruise with Dave, Bill, and Carmen, The JOY FM raised almost $400,000 dollars to help survivors of Hurricane Ian in Southwest Florida. Dubbed Hope After the Hurricane, the live, video simulcast event provided essential relief supplies through listener donations to Convoy of Hope and featured personalized messages and songs from Steven Curtis Chapman, Chris Tomlin, For King & Country, Zach Williams, Danny Gokey, Cain, Hope Darst and several other artists.
“It was fantastic to have so many of our artists willing to be part of the event,” said Dave Cruse (Program Director). Each hour during The Morning Cruise, listeners and viewers got a message of hope, information about Convoy’s operations centered in Ft. Myers, and ways to respond. Carmen Brown (VP Network Programming) noted how “We had gifts from all over our listening areas in Florida, Georgia, and Alabama. But especially meaningful were donations that came in from areas affected by the hurricane! Once again, the generosity of The JOY FM listening family was overwhelming.”
Convoy of Hope is a faith-based organization that partners with local churches, businesses, civic organizations, and government agencies to strategically offer help and hope. To those affected by Hurricane Ian, Convoy has been distributing food, water, and relief supplies using any means of transportation necessary, including drive-thru distributions, walk-ups, and deliveries by boat.
