Mike and Megan Move to Mornings at Spirit FM and Your ‘PER

Positive Alternative Radio (PAR) has tapped Mike Kelly and Megan Billingsley as its permanent morning show team for both Spirit FM in Lynchburg, Virginia and Your ‘PER in Fredericksburg, Virginia.

The Fredericksburg duo, known best for “Afternoons with Mike & Megan” at Your ‘PER, has been filling in for Spirit FM’s “Good Morning Radio” since July to cover the open slot at Spirit FM. Although PAR conducted a national talent search, listener response made it evident to PAR leadership that the qualities being sought were already available in Mike and Megan.

“PAR strives to be the standard in Christian media,” said Brian Sanders, executive vice president of PAR. “Mike and Megan’s shared talent, passion and ability to connect with their audience is representative of that standard. We are thankful to have their ministry represented on two outstanding PAR stations.”

The decision to move “Mike & Megan” to mornings at both stations has created other opportunities as well. Long-time WPER morning show host Angela Stevens will now occupy the afternoon drive time slot at Your ‘PER. The transition has also produced an immediate need for additional show producers at both Spirit FM and Your ‘PER. Details are available by clicking here.

Mike and Megan have a solid history with PAR. Mike has been with the Christian media organization for thirteen years, while Megan has been with the company for more than four years. They have hosted “Afternoons with Mike & Megan” since August of 2013. At the heart of their unique, and often zany, ministry is a love for community.

“I’m inspired by this opportunity to touch lives in both northern and central Virginia,” said Mike. We are eager to see how God will increase the combined ministry of Spirit FM and Your PER.”

Megan said, “I feel like I’m on the edge of something great. It’s as if we’re seeing the beginning steps of an incredible plan set in motion by God. We’re so honored to be a part of His plan. If we can start each day by adding smiles to faces or encouraging words to ears, then that’s perfectly awesome!”

Combined, Spirit FM and ‘PER reach more than 200,000 listeners, per week, through their terrestrial signals. Spirit FM’s markets includes: Roanoke, Virginia; Lynchburg, Virginia; and portions of North Carolina. Your ‘PER’s markets includes: Fredericksburg, Virginia; Richmond, Virginia; and parts of northern Virginia. Mike and Megan will continue to host their show from Fredericksburg, but have a strong belief that they will deliver a real sense of fun and faith to all of those areas.

“We’re real people,” said Megan. “We like to have fun…to live life with our listeners. We all share the same experiences, the same struggles, the same joys and even the same heartaches. If we can keep the focus on God, we know we can get through it together, no matter what it is. Hopefully, we can help people laugh a little more along the way!”

Positive Alternative Radio owns and operates stations in Virginia, Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina, Kentucky, and Ohio. The stations provide adult contemporary and gospel music, as well as Christian content available across a variety of digital platforms.   In providing services to fellow Christian broadcasters and a weekly blog, “Dear Christian Radio,” PAR is dedicated to helping Christian communication ministries strive for excellence.

Wise, Weird & Welcome: Learning and Leading with the Lepers and the Locust Eaters

We’ve all read the same books about teamwork, leadership, communication, and culture that everybody reads. We’ve mastered Maxwell, studied Sanborn, Sinek, and Sun Tzu, and liberally cribbed Collins in aborted attempts to go from good to great, but…

How’s that working out for you?

What if you left St. Louis with an entirely new lens through which to view and act upon improvements in:

Let’s examine how this all connects together, but approach it from an entirely different angle. Don’t just think outside the box. Kick the box to the curb and start at zero.
