The Bridge, a Delmarva-based radio station serving Delaware, Maryland, the Eastern Shore of Virginia, and South Jersey, values listener relationships and Mandy Wallace will strengthen those connections as Community Engagement Specialist.
Mandy Wallace has lived in Delmar all her life, and still resides in “the town too big for one state.” She graduated from Delmar High school, where she loved to play several sports. Her love of people was just what The Bridge was looking for in this new role.
In her role as Community Engagement Specialist, Wallace partners with Ben Sorrells, the Director of Community Engagement, to develop and deepen The Bridge’s commitment to regional non-profit organizations, churches, and individual listeners. In addition to broadcasts and podcasts, The Bridge also serves Delmarva, South Jersey and beyond with a variety of projects. Most recently the stations listeners helped provide clean water and meals to over 1,300 children in Uganda, Zambia and Malawi. The Bridge has also adopted a village in the Domincan Republic known as La Union Abajo, and regularly provides funding to help residents, including building a bakery and sewing center to provide a skill and income to young women.
Locally The Bridge coordinates Hands & Feet, a day of service to other non-profit organizations with several hundred volunteers, and The Bridge helps connect and strengthen the community through special events such as concerts, seminars, food distributions, the Drive Thru Connection, online Prayer Works, and much more.
