Life 96.5 Help a Student Initiative

Life 96.5 listeners along with corporate partner Dacotah Bank donated $3800 in gift cards and cash for homeless students in Sioux Falls, SD.

About 1,000 students in the district are not living in a secure family situation. Many are staying with friends or relatives, and some even go from place to place, living out of their car. The generosity and love shown by Life 96.5 listeners goes to work immediately to “Help A Student” in need both now and for months to come. Donated cash and gift cards gives our school social workers a chance to fill in the gap with a resource that helps meet the practical needs of students. It could be a pair of shoes or a dress shirt for a job interview, a dose of cold medicine, warm boots, or even a tankful of gas to get them to an after school job or help shuttle siblings to and from school. School district employee Traci Jensen says, “The cards are used to meet the basic needs of students so they are able to attend school on a regular basis and concentrate on their academics with fewer distractions.”

Gift cards for grocery stores, drug stores, big box and department stores, and even gas stations were donated to give our school social workers the tools that make a difference.

Wise, Weird & Welcome: Learning and Leading with the Lepers and the Locust Eaters

We’ve all read the same books about teamwork, leadership, communication, and culture that everybody reads. We’ve mastered Maxwell, studied Sanborn, Sinek, and Sun Tzu, and liberally cribbed Collins in aborted attempts to go from good to great, but…

How’s that working out for you?

What if you left St. Louis with an entirely new lens through which to view and act upon improvements in:

Let’s examine how this all connects together, but approach it from an entirely different angle. Don’t just think outside the box. Kick the box to the curb and start at zero.
