Des Moines, IA, October 27, 2021 – Life 107.1 (KNWI – Des Moines) is now reaching Central Iowans with one strong, clear signal. At noon on Tuesday, October 26, Operation Strong Tower became a reality.
Since signing on the air in 2003, Life 107.1 has been trying to cover Des Moines and central Iowa with three weaker signals. Station listeners stepped up to fund an increase of the 107.1 signal to the maximum 100,000 watts on a new tower that is 995 feet tall.
Listeners no longer need to change stations to keep listening to Life 107.1. The station can now be heard at home or at work, not just in the car. And weather should no longer affect the signal. Life 107.1 can now be heard on one strong signal anywhere in Des Moines and central Iowa.
“For years, people have been praying that Life 107.1 would obtain one signal that would reach all of Des Moines and central Iowa.” says Station Manager Bruce Barrows. “Those prayers were answered when the switch was flipped on Operation Strong Tower.”
Life 107.1 is a part of the Northwestern Media network of University of Northwestern – St. Paul. Northwestern Media operates 21 stations in 13 markets across 10 states. Their radio signals reach more than 1.25 million listeners each week.
