MADISON, WI – January 20, 2023 – For five years, Life 102.5 (WNWC, Madison, WI) has been partnering with the American Family Children’s Hospital to bring hope to kids during their stay at the hospital. In previous years, members of the Madison community and surrounding areas donated Legos and Pay-Doh. In 2023, the Lego Drive is back for its sixth year.
Summer Shepherd, afternoon show host at Life 102.5, said, “My love for the children’s hospital ignited as I watched them fight for my daughter when she was only 15 months old.” When Life 102.5 partnered with the hospital six years ago, Shepherd never imagined that the community would “grab hold of the call” as strongly as they did.
Parents shared how the generosity of the schools, businesses, churches, village halls, and individuals made an impact on their kids’ lives and kept them engaged during their time at the hospital. Each child is able to take the Legos home after their hospital stay.
Theresa, a listener of Life 102.5, said that she learned to call the children’s hospital her “second home.” At just three months old, Theresa’s little girl was admitted to the hospital, where they spent countless hours. Before her daughter passed away in 2017, Theresa said, “The Play-Doh Drive deeply touched my heart.”
This year, the Lego Drive is in person and online, making it easy for friends and family outside of the Madison area to participate. Life 102.5 and the American Family Children’s Hospital hope to make a lasting impact during their sixth year of the Lego Drive!
