On the weekend before KSWP/KAVX’s regular fall fundraiser, Hurricane Ida made landfall devastating many parts of Louisiana. With the scheduled fall fundraiser just days away, KSWP/KAVX expanded their funding appeal to include helping those impacted by Hurricane Ida.
General Manager Al Ross made the decision saying, “Our stations cover not just East Texas but also reach into Western Louisiana. A lot of people were hurting and we wanted to do what we could to help our friends and neighbors.” KSWP/KAVX has been serving listeners in East Texas and Western Louisiana for over 36 years.
The Fall Share-A-Thon was one of the most successful fundraisers in recent history raising over $127,000. Best of all – thanks to a partnership with Convoy of Hope – 181 people will now be helped with hygiene kits.
Al added “This is one of the best parts of being in radio – helping people when they are in need. We are so grateful to God for the 322 families who gave to this ministry and equally thankful to bless families in Louisiana. There are so many people today who need hope and we are pointing them to the only real Hope – Jesus.”
