HOUSTON (August 4, 2016) – KSBJ Educational Foundation announced the launch date of 91.7 KXNG for NGEN radio. The station will begin broadcasting at 6 a.m. on Monday, August 8th and will focus on spreading the message of hope, unity and love. The station’s playlist includes artists such as Tori Kelly, twenty one pilots and Lecrae with a goal of being inclusive and representing Houston’s diverse, thriving community.
“The dream has come true! KSBJ finally has a second full-powered FM Houston radio station to reach the next generation,” says Tim McDermott, President of KSBJ Educational Foundation. “Isaiah 43:5-7 are our verses for NGEN. We believe God is going to use this station to bring young people – many who have left the church – back to Him.”
With numerous signals throughout the Gulf Coast Region, NGEN radio has been reaching the “NOW” generation with alternative pop and hip hop music since 2010. On-air talent includes veteran radio host Chris Chicago who brings nearly two decades worth of experience to the roles of Morning Show Host and Production Director for NGEN. “To be part of the NGEN radio brand with its history-making Top 40 format is such a fantastic and exciting opportunity for me,” Chicago said. The morning show airs from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m.
NGEN Program Director, Drew Wilson, who has been with NGEN since its initial launch in 2010, will also host the midday show from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. A familiar voice around Houston, Ayana Mack, continues to host the afternoon show from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Mack brings with her several years of experience in radio, having worked at top rated radio stations in Houston.
Rounding out the on-air line up is Evening Show Host, Angela Schweinitz, a recent college graduate who moved to Houston from Ohio to begin her career in radio. The evening show airs from 8 p.m. to midnight.
