NRBMLC – End of Year Update

Dear NRBMLC and NRBNMLC Member:

The Radio Music License Committee (RMLC), our counterpart in general market radio, has been negotiating for some time with Global Music Rights (GMR). GMR is a fledgling performance rights organization that represents songwriters and publishers primarily in the rock and pop genre, and they also represent some crossover Christian songwriters as well.

RMLC recently informed the radio industry that it has reached an interim license agreement with GMR. This agreement is being offered to all RMLC-represented stations for the period 1/1/17 through 9/30/17. Presumably, this agreement will allow time for the courts to respond to antitrust claims filed by both parties.

Please note: Your committee has not entered into such an agreement with GMR as of this date. We are, however, carefully considering a solution for our stations.

Although this committee cannot legally advise you as to what course of action you should take regarding GMR licensing, please be aware that both the NRBMLC and the NRBNMLC will very shortly have a GMR licensing strategy for your consideration.

If you wish to deal directly with GMR, they can be reached at Additionally, the GMR-RMLC Interim Agreement can be found here for your review. You should, by all means, contact your station counsel before signing an agreement or agreeing to fees and terms.

Should you have further questions concerning GMR licensing, feel free to email us at the below addresses.

Warmest personal regards,

Russ Hauth

Wise, Weird & Welcome: Learning and Leading with the Lepers and the Locust Eaters

We’ve all read the same books about teamwork, leadership, communication, and culture that everybody reads. We’ve mastered Maxwell, studied Sanborn, Sinek, and Sun Tzu, and liberally cribbed Collins in aborted attempts to go from good to great, but…

How’s that working out for you?

What if you left St. Louis with an entirely new lens through which to view and act upon improvements in:

Let’s examine how this all connects together, but approach it from an entirely different angle. Don’t just think outside the box. Kick the box to the curb and start at zero.
