Educational Media Foundation (EMF), the parent company of two of the largest contemporary Christian media brands – K-LOVE and Air1 – and Wycliffe Bible Translators USA, an interdenominational non-profit mission organization, announced today they will be supporting the Indigitous #Hack event. Indigitous #Hack is a global hackathon that will convene thousands of students, technologists and digital specialists to collaborate around missional technology projects on Nov. 4 – 6, 2016. EMF and Wycliffe will join Cru, InterVarsity Christian Fellowship, Jesus Film Project, Quite Uncommon and other organizations for the project.
“The goal of K-LOVE and Air1 has always been to expand the reach of our faith-based messages, with an ongoing emphasis on the younger generation,” shares Mike Novak, President and CEO of Educational Media Foundation. “We use music, short-form educational ministry features and on-air personalities who tie it all together. K-LOVE and Air1 are extremely honored and excited to be part of Indigitous #Hack. This is the place to be, for anyone wanting to impact the world in a powerful way.”
The Hackathon will take place in cities and campuses in all corners of the world. The initial round of 22 cities to host the Indigitous #Hack event includes seven cities in North America, one in Africa, one in Europe, and 13 in Asia. Individuals interested in hosting a #Hack event in their cities are encouraged to apply at http://indigitous.org/hack.
“In our ministry and in many others, technologists and digital specialists are a crucial part of the team, helping advance our work and ultimately helping change lives for eternity,” said Doug Hennum, chief innovation and information officer at Wycliffe USA. “Indigitous #Hack will equip them with invaluable experience using their skills for the kingdom.”
Ken Cochrum, Vice President of Global Digital Strategies at Cru, adds, “Indigitous #Hack is an opportunity to unleash the huge potential in a generation of technologists to improve our world. The event will allow a community of passionate people to use their God-given gifts and experience to help individuals and organizations serve others better.”
