November 4, 2021 (SEATTLE) – KCMS/SPIRIT 105.3 has announced today that Monday, November 8, will launch a 47-day format flip to all-Christmas music for the Christian Adult Contemporary station. “CHRISTMAS SPIRIT 105.3” will carry 100% Christmas music each day through December 25th.
For decades, SPIRIT 105.3 had begun treating listeners to Christmas music the evening of Thanksgiving Day. Prompted by the COVID-19 pandemic a year ago, the station began its run of playing Christmas music earlier in the month in an effort to better serve the community. The response from listeners was overwhelming, leading to numerous requests to the station’s parent organization (CRISTA Media) for “CHRISTMAS SPIRIT 105.3” to receive another early launch in 2021.
Sarah Taylor, SPIRIT 105.3 Music Director and on-air host for Middays, stated: “Christmas music is the perfect reminder that there’s still joy because Jesus was born, and there’s a lot of comfort in enjoying the Christmas season. We want to bring this to the community we are so honored to be serving.”
Station General Manager Channah Hanberg added: “Listeners are telling us that they’re still struggling through the pandemic, but for different reasons this year. We all need hope, and we believe that the spirit of Christmas is exactly what we need, which is why we’re stepping up to provide extra hope and joy to Seattle, again, this year.”
Sarah Tayler and other SPIRIT 105.3 on-air talent – including Erica Parkerson & Steve Sunshine (mornings), Sam Kelly (afternoons), and Brant Hansen (evenings) – are available for media requests throughout the months of November and December. Please contact Heidi Moore for more information.
Established in 1954, CRISTA Media is a member of the CRISTA Family of Ministries. In addition to SPIRIT 105.3 (KCMS – Seattle), CRISTA Media is also comprised of KCIS 630 (Seattle), PRAISE 106.5 (KWPZ – Bellingham), the allmomdoes digital platform and streaming stations SkyCountry Radio, LIFT Radio and Quiet Time Radio.
