98.5 KTIS’ Donna Cruz Hosts a Live Broadcast for Domestic Abuse Survivors

October was National Domestic Violence Month. Northwestern Media’s 98.5 KTIS took action and provided a lifeline on Thursday, October 25 through a live broadcast event to 75 callers experiencing abuse in their homes.

Phone calls flooded into the studio from survivors and 98.5 KTIS’ Evening Show Host Donna Cruz was there live, from 7-10pm, sharing their stories of transformation and hope. Donna says, “When we share our story it can help someone feel that they are not alone. If my personal time spent in an abusive relationship can help someone to speak out and get out, it’s worth it!  The victims and survivors who shared their stories did it out of compassion and love, ultimately letting each other know, “You are NOT alone”.

There were also 10-trained professionals, experienced in working with families fleeing from domestic violence available in the call center to assist callers privately in taking first steps toward healing. Leading up to the event, 98.5 KTIS shined a light on domestic abuse all month long with helpful articles and resources.
