Dallas, TX, Feb. 23, 2021 – The massive winter storm that paralyzed Dallas-Fort Worth and the rest of Texas last week left tens of thousands of people without water service. Many are still waiting for it to be restore.
Thanks to the generous support of our listeners, 90.9 KCBI donated 25,000 bottles of water Texas Baptist Men, which the relief ministry immediately distributed to those who still desperately need it. One of the ministries that received some of the water for distribution is Next Steps Center, a ministry of Valley Creek Church in Lewisville.
“One mama whose home I was in was under a ‘boil water’ order,” said Next Steps Center Director Dawn Shapley. “She only had a small frying pan – no other pots to boil the water for her and her three kids. That’s a huge barrier that I hadn’t even thought of! The bottled water will be an amazing blessing to her.”
Many families not only got the water they needed, they learned about the love of Jesus. “We try to minister to them and pray with them when we are there,” said David Wells, TBM’s Director of Disaster Relief. “As we distribute the water, we also give them a Bible. Please continue to pray with us that their hearts will be open to receive the Word of God!”
“KCBI listeners are generous and care deeply about impacting the D-FW area for Christ,” said KCBI General Manager Matt Austin. “Because of their support, this significant donation was made on their behalf to help people struggling through a difficult time. I’m thankful to everyone who partners to make a difference.”
