89Q has just completed their 1st annual Summer of Hope, which was co-sponsored by four local businesses.
89Q went into the communities they serve by attending VBS programs at 9 churches throughout North Central Wisconsin. People at the VBS Pitstops would register for an excursion “Up North” to beautiful Minocqua, Wisconsin.
The package, for up to 6 people, included a stay at a hotel with an attached waterpark, mini-golf & frozen custard, a meal at Paul Bunyan’s restaurant and passes to the Wildwood Wildlife Zoo. Listeners could also stop by and sign up at the new 89Q studios and receive a tour. The Summer of Hope culminated in a joint effort with Thrivent, South Wisconsin Region, for a free concert on Wausau’s famed 400 Block with Big Daddy Weave which brought in about 4,500 people. Attendees were also encouraged to bring backpacks filled with school supplies for the local FABFAN – Fill a backpack, fill a need program.
