“I stood next to a legend recently. This is Dick Jenkins. He is the deal maker, hard charging, engineer, CEO, visionary, controversial, mad genius that kept K-LOVE alive in its early days. He built on what Bob Anthony started, he is a master class in brilliant hires, he is apologetic for mistakes he feels he made being unfair to some and not delegating and collaborating enough with others. It was humbling to listen to him.
I had heard some stories I needed to confirm…yes he did take the network off the air on purpose for 3.5 days because pledge drive was underperforming badly. The unorthodox move that infuriated some and embarrassed others paid off, they didn’t miss a pledge drive goal for 5+years. Yes, after the first tower burned to the ground, he feels God showed him where they should move to next. Yes, on one occasion he did sell his furniture to make payroll. I thanked him for my dream job and told him we were doing our best to carry on the original vision. He shook my hand warmly, complimented the team, and told me to keep seeking Jesus. #grateful”
The CMB Industry Highlight is a place to spotlight a photo from one of our CMB Members each week. The photo can be anything related to their station – a new piece of equipment, a fun new project they are working on, a favorite co-worker 🙂 etc. If you have a picture that you’d love to submit, email andrea@cmbonline.org.
