KSWP (90.9 FM) and KAVX (91.9 FM) closed out their Spring Share-A-Thon this week with a milestone achievement: $108,306 in listener support, contributed by more than 316 families. Over the course of the 52-hour live event, audiences from across East Texas shared inspiring testimonies of hope, joy, and generosity—underscoring the vital role these stations play in connecting communities to God and one another.

Listeners repeatedly voiced the need for encouragement in their giving, and their response surpassed all expectations. From heartfelt calls sharing how a single song turned a day around, to on-air reflections of lives transformed, the Spring Share-A-Thon demonstrated the power of partnership in ministry.

“It always humbles me to see the generosity and passion from our communities to keep these stations on the air and supporting the mission to share hope, connect people to God, and serve others,” said Michelle Ross, General Manager.

For 40 years, KSWP and KAVX have been East Texas’s trusted source for uplifting Christian music, teaching, and prayer support. This year’s Spring Share-A-Thon not only ensured continued access to life-changing programming, but also reaffirmed the deep bond between the stations and the families they serve.

For the third year in a row, WGTS 91.9 partnered with National Community Church to welcome listeners and guests to the steps of the Lincoln Memorial for the Easter sunrise service. Started in 1979 by Pastors Amos and Sue Dodge when 127 people gathered on those steps, the event has since grown to record attendance this year of close to 10,000 people. They came together to sing praise songs to Jesus and to hear words of hope.

National Community Church lead pastor Mark Batterson offered a message of unity around the power of Christ’s resurrection.

“We represent hundreds of churches, but it’s not about the name over the church door,” said Batterson. “It’s about the name above all names. ‘At that name, every knee will bow, every tongue will confess that Jesus is Lord.’ And we’re here to lift high His name.”

Eight Days of Hope (EDOH) has just announced “A Night of Hope,” a benefit concert for those impacted by the California fires, featuring Dove Award winner Jordan Feliz and 2024 New Artist of the Year nominee Terrian. The benefit concert will take place on Saturday, May 10th at 6:00 PM PST in person at Lake Avenue Church in Pasadena, CA and nationwide via a social media livestream simulcast to raise support for victims of the recent fires.

“We know that so many across Southern California are hurting, unsure of how to recover after such an insurmountable disaster,” said Stephen Tybor III, EDOH President and CEO. “Through A Night of Hope, we desire to bring together the local church and community to help those impacted through generosity and unity.”

The concert will take place at Lake Avenue Church in Pasadena, CA, starting at 6 PM PST. General Admission tickets are $20. VIP tickets are $50 and include reserved seating and an artist Q&A. A love offering will be taken during the concert with all proceeds helping families impacted by the fires.

WGTS 91.9 staff greeted and encouraged attendees as they entered the event. Maryland Governor Wes Moore and U.S. Representative April Delaney also stopped by to encourage attendees. They dropped by the WGTS booth to say thank you for the ministry.

“While you may not necessarily think of a job fair as an obvious place for ministry,” said WGTS Director of Promotions and Community Engagement Ken Scribner, “we had people from all walks of life asking for prayer. Many people in our area have lost federal jobs and don’t know how to make ends meet. They come to a job fair and are very open to talking to you and asking you to pray with them. It was our privilege to do that all afternoon.”

Close to 14,000 people packed out Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C., to hear music from Elevation Worship and an inspirational message from Pastor Steven Furtick. Initially, the arena was set up for 12,000 people, but it was expanded several times due to demand, according to arena staff.

“It was amazing to see so many people coming to worship and praise God together,” said WGTS midday host Becky Alignay. “Listeners filled the arena to the brim with young people and older people who reflected a variety of races and backgrounds. What a powerful and healing event, especially considering the times we’re living in.”

Staff and volunteers from WGTS met and prayed with listeners on the main concourse before and during the concert. “It was incredible. Listeners stood for more than three hours straight singing along to every song word for word,” said WGTS Director of Promotions and Community Engagement Ken Scribner.

Mike Prendergast has signed on as Programming Consultant with SOS Radio Network in Las Vegas.

VP of Programming Chris Staley says, “We’re just beginning to work with Mike, and he’s brought us a framework of organization in building around some truly exciting things happening in the legacy ministry that is SOS Radio.  He’s also been a great sport about wearing our bedazzled & sequined team-shirts while working in our Vegas offices. We’re still working on him re: the feathered headdress.“

89Q/89.5 FM WCLQ Wausau was honored to be a drop-off location for the Wausau Formal Showcase. This annual event was started by Kendra, a local teen who, through her Girls Scout gold award project, began collecting used formal/prom dresses, suits, and accessories for students who are unable to afford formal wear to attend school dances like prom, winter formal, or homecoming. Kendra has been collecting and providing dresses for two years and is graduating this spring. She will pass the baton to the Boys and Girls clubs to carry on. They will be opening up the program to include Merrill High School, Wausau West, and East and DC Everest high schools. This year 89Q collected 154 dresses, 10 full suits, 7 pairs of pants, 6 sport coats, 11 dress shirts, and various vests and shoes.

WBGL (Champaign, IL) hosted its third annual Yes Day on March 10, dedicating the day to life-changing conversations about salvation and faith. Throughout the day, WBGL’s on-air team shared personal testimonies of when they said “yes” to Jesus, reflecting on how their faith has shaped their lives. The station also invited listeners to consider important spiritual questions, such as:

· Am I saved?

· Do I really trust Jesus with my whole life?

· How can I get rid of my doubts?

To support those seeking guidance, 20 pastors from 15 churches across central Illinois joined WBGL’s phone room, offering encouragement and prayer to every caller.

By the end of the day, over 50 people reached out to speak with a pastor. Among them:

· 3 listeners reaffirmed or rededicated their lives to Christ.

· 2 listeners were considering saying “yes” to Jesus but had questions.

· 21 people texted WBGL seeking more information about starting a relationship with Him.

Johnathon Eltrevoog, the pioneer of Yes Day and WBGL Morning Show DJ, shared:

“Yes Day was awesome and purposeful again. At WBGL, we get to lead people to Christ and nurture believers in their growth. One of the many calls we got was from Leslie, who came to Christ 15 years ago and has struggled with mental health and maybe spiritual warfare since. She said she felt a heaviness and needed assurance of her faith. Yes Day is for Leslie and the many others who need clear communication of the good news about Jesus for each and every one of us.”

WBGL remains committed to walking alongside listeners on their faith journey, providing encouragement and opportunities to deepen their relationship with Jesus.
