“Inside Out”—It’s not only our theme for this year’s CMB Momentum; it’s how God orchestrates change in our lives, communities, and ministry cultures.
You and I are called to be transformed from the inside out (Romans 12:2). The Apostle Paul tells us this: something must be taking place in our hearts and minds if we expect to experience authentic change in our behavior. The outside is what people see, but the inside is what God sees—and where He always begins His work.
Think about the culture of your radio station or ministry. Change in a culture almost always happens because an individual is changed first. When one person with influence is changed by a truth, an idea, or an experience, a ripple effect begins. The impact on that person’s life causes others in the organization to see and be impacted by it as well. Before long, the internal culture begins to change. Then the transformation begins to show up externally, on the air, where people in the community take notice and the change begins to grow. What God begins on the inside never stays there.
This truth always plays out: Whether the core is rotten or sweet, what’s on the inside eventually works its way to the outside.
Because yours may be the largest and most recognized “pulpit” in your community, this inside work takes on great—even eternal—significance. You have opportunities every day to pour God’s truth and life into your listeners. That will only happen if you have that truth and life overflowing from your own heart. If you don’t have that surplus, neither you nor your ministry culture will be able to make full use of the opportunities God may give you. But: if you do have that overflowing life to share, the growth happening in you and your staff will begin to show up in the lives of the people you serve.
Our prayer for you this week is that God will start something in your life that will begin to work its way outward. We are specifically praying that the calling God has placed on your life will be rekindled and stoked, and that it will begin to transform you internally. Once that happens, it can’t help but show up externally.
I’d like to invite you to our Momentum Devotions Thursday, Friday, and Saturday mornings in the Philippine Sea meeting room. Thursday and Friday, we’ll meet from 6:45-7:30am. We’ll have you out each morning in time for CMB “Coffee Talk. On Saturday, we’ll meet an hour later, at 7:45. If you’re running in the 5k on Saturday, come on over in your running gear!
I hope to see you there.
