Welcome to the New Year! You’ve probably already “looked back” at last year and have moved on with a fresh mindset.
But, what if your 2018 turns out as unexpectedly as my 2017 did? Are you ready?
Last year at this time I was recovering from a botched outpatient surgery. Not what I had planned. Then in May, God used my wife and daughter to stretch my faith of where our family was being called. Not what I had planned. I spent the summer in a three-month interview process. Not what I had planned. I accepted a new job in August and moved to a different state in October. Not what I had planned.
So, here I am a year later from barely being able to walk to the stop sign four houses down the street to living in a new city. Crazy. I never would’ve imagined any of that happening, let alone ALL of it happening.
The most shared Bible verse on the YouVersion Bible App in 2017 was Joshua 1:9. “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
2018 may not end up how you’re planning it to be, like, at all. If I could offer any encouragement to you about your 2018 from my 2017 it would be this…
Keep Joshua 1:9 handy
God may use you in unexpected ways
Pastor David Jeremiah recently tweeted this: “God puts us where we need to be, when we need to be there, to accomplish His purposes. He does it for our good and His glory.”
May 2018 be full of unexpected twists and turns that point people to God!
