I Want To Make A Difference

As I was sitting in church, minding my own business, thinking about the football games that were coming up later in the afternoon, my pastor said something that caused me to stop and reflect on how I was living my life.  “Am I more concerned with being right than I am in making a difference?”  I so badly want to be right.  I want to play the right songs. I want to do the right promotions. I want each break to be the right length, with the right formula to build TSL, etc. But, if it’s only about playing the right song, the right promotion, the right on-air break, I can do that anywhere.  Right?  But, I get to “work” at a place that can make a difference in our listeners’ lives.  Life changing music, promotions that can make families stronger, breaks that can encourage someone through the day, things that can make a difference.  According to 1 Corinthians, without LOVE, I would be a noisy gong or a clanging symbol, I would gain nothing, I would BE nothing – no matter how right I am!  I want to make a difference – in the right way!
