Taking it Deeper is a different kind of show prep. You’ll find five things below: A song’s lyrics, a creative devotional thought, the video of the song, an interesting tweet thought, and applicable scriptures. You can summarize the devotional thought, or use the scripture as a basic break around a song. Check back each week for a new tune, or find over 300 songs at www.takingitdeeper.com. The best part about Taking it Deeper – It’s free!
We hide pain in the weirdest places
Broken souls with smiling faces
Fighting for surrender
For now and the after
Just look around and you’ll see that people
Are scared to say how they really feel, oh
We all need a little honesty
You are loved
If your heart’s in a thousand pieces
If you’re lost and you’re far from reason
Just look up, know you are loved
Just look up, and know you are loved
When it feels like somethings missing
If it hurts but you can’t find healing
Just look up, know you are loved
Just look up, know you are loved. ooh
We’re not made to be superheroes,
Photoshopped, all size zeroes
We’re a light not expected
But not quite perfected yet.
Look up see the sun is shining
There’s hope on a new horizon
Calling you, calling…
You don’t have to prove yourself
Don’t try to be someone else

TAKING IT DEEPER THOUGHTS
I saw this ad from a suicide prevention team. It was quite simple, only two words:
However, when you looked at the words upside down, it spelled out “Save Me.” I’ve heard it’s become a popular tattoo. People use it to be real with others.
“How you doing?” “I’m fine.”
Has that been the start of a recent conversation you’ve had? You found yourself mindlessly saying those words, but in reality, you would have rather been honest about the emotional turmoil from your child, or the deep uncertainty from your job, or the washer/dryer/car/garage door opener that all need fixed and you’re looking at $152 to last until payday. Which is two weeks away.
Connecting honestly to another believer results in a balm that soothes our aching emotions. When done it gives off warmth. That warmth usually goes deep because it often takes the form of a prayer. The prayer then points out how much others are concerned for you, and ultimately how much God loves you.
Feel loved. Be real with others.
Are we scared to say how we really feel? Being honest with another believer is a balm to soothe aching emotions.
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.
No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, evenwhen we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ— by grace you have been saved …
but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
The LORD your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing.
1 Peter 5:6-7
Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.
