LYRICS

I can see
Waters raging at my feet
I can feel
The breath of those surrounding me
I can hear
The sound of nations rising up
We will not be overtaken
We will not be overcome

I can walk
Down this dark and painful road
I can face
Every fear of the unknown
I can hear
All God’s children singing out
We will not be overtaken
We will not be overcome

The same power that rose Jesus from the grave
The same power that commands the dead to wake
Lives in us, lives in us
The same power that moves mountains when He speaks
The same power that can calm a raging sea
Lives in us, lives in us
He lives in us, lives in us

We have hope
That His promises are true
In His strength
There is nothing we can’t do
Yes, we know
There are greater things in store
We will not be overtaken
We will not be overcome

The same power that rose Jesus from the grave
The same power that commands the dead to wake
Lives in us, lives in us
The same power that moves mountains when He speaks
The same power that can calm a raging sea
Lives in us, lives in us
He lives in us, lives in us

Greater is He that is living in me
He’s conquered our enemy
No power of darkness
No weapon prevails
We stand here in victory

The same power that rose Jesus from the grave
The same power that commands the dead to wake
Lives in us, lives in us
The same power that moves mountains when He speaks
The same power that can calm a raging sea
Lives in us, lives in us
He lives in us, lives in us

TAKING IT DEEPER THOUGHTS

There are three words that excite the heart of every boy:  Remote-controlled helicopter!

I’ve succumbed to that temptation.  These new quadcopters aren’t that expensive, so I bought a tiny hand-held one for my boy, one that he could play with it in his dorm room, and then a larger one for him for Christmas. I also got one for myself.  Plus extra batteries.

I love remote controlled stuff. There’s power in being able to control something half a room or half a football field away. This world wouldn’t function without it.  It’s used to control oil in pipelines, trains on tracks, and to see how your baby’s sleeping when you’re putting away the dishes.

Since we trust in the ability to remote control things, why is it that we resist the urge to let God control the circumstances of our lives? God is the originator of the whole remote control idea. Want proof? Here it is in Genesis 1:3 …God said “let there be light,” and there was light. There’s your first recorded instance of home automation!

Want another example? Here’s one from Luke 7:6-10

And Jesus went with them. When he was not far from the house, the centurion sent friends, saying to him, “Lord, do not trouble yourself, for I am not worthy to have you come under my roof.

Therefore I did not presume to come to you. But say the word, and let my servant be healed.

For I too am a man set under authority, with soldiers under me: and I say to one, ‘Go,’ and he goes; and to another, ‘Come,’ and he comes; and to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.”

When Jesus heard these things, he marveled at him, and turning to the crowd that followed him, said, “I tell you, not even in Israel have I found such faith.”

10  And when those who had been sent returned to the house, they found the servant well.

The Holy Bible: English Standard Version. (2001). (Lk 7:6–10). Wheaton: Standard Bible Society.

In that passage we find the centurion trusting in the remote-control ability of Jesus.  There are three words that should excite the heart of any believer:  “Say the word.”

God still has the power to remote in to your life, and change your doubt, your fear of the future, and the nagging thoughts that you’re just not getting it right.  Like the centurion, the phrase you need to say today is:  “Say the word.”   Just say the word, Lord, and this problem is under your control.

Let God speak into your life today with the same power that moves mountains when He speaks.

TWEET THOUGHT

We trust in man-made remote-control technology everyday of our life, so why don’t we trust in God remote-control ability in our lives?

APPLICABLE SCRIPTURE

Luke 9:1–2 (ESV)  Jesus sends out the Twelve Apostles
And he called the twelve together and gave them power and authority over all demons and to cure diseases, and he sent them out to proclaim the kingdom of God and to heal.

Acts 1:8 (ESV)

But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”

1 Corinthians 1:18 (ESV)
For the word of the cross is folly to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.
