 Tell us about your station:

88.3 The Wind has served the Southwest Missouri area for over 20 years. The station was started by a local radio celebrity and a local church, but after a falling out between those entities, Radio Training Network (Jim Campbell, PRES/CEO) was approached about purchasing the station. In 1995, it became a part of the Radio Training Network family of stations.

We look to connect our listeners with God, with each other, with local churches, and with our community through our daily message of hope and encouragement.

We long to be the place that all can feel comfortable listening, and desire to make a difference in our community.

We always strive for radio excellence, and remain constant students in the craft, so that we can continue to share the love of Jesus in meaningful ways until His triumphant return.

Your station’s most successful promotion:

God has taken the banner with this promotion, and basically said….WATCH THIS!

Our most successful promotion is our CleanAIR Kids Club! The station has long wanted a way to touch the hearts and lives of the kids in our area. So, our team designed an incredible way to make an ongoing difference in their lives.

It was just recently launched, but it is obvious that we are meeting a need here in the Ozarks.

Each membership for a child 12 and under is FREE…They receive a T-Shirt, Membership Card, Kids’ Club exclusive events. Parents receive a themed E-Newsletter with activities, devotions, and conversation starters to help them as they teach their kids how to grow in the Christian faith – what it looks like to be a follower of Jesus. Plus, the kids each receive a giving card – to teach them about generosity, and how they become a vital part of the giving process for our radio ministry. We are excited that it gets the entire family involved, but keeps the kids at the center.

We opened registration on the air at 7:15am, January 4th, and by 9:00, we had over 200 signed up…two weeks later, the number has jumped to over 1000…Exceeded our expectations by leaps and bounds!!! We had to do an extra large order of T-Shirts.

Our kickoff event this weekend saw over 300 kids – plus parents/family members come through our doors to receive their membership packets – plus, enjoy face painting, a balloon artist, mascots, and meeting the staff face to face.

We often say that life is all about a relationship with Jesus…I believe we should use that principle with our listeners, donors, business partnerships, record company partnership…any one we come into contact with.

Radio is relational…It is ALL about relationships. Make them great!

About a month ago, Lisa was in her car, flipping through stations to find one playing some ‘hard core’ what she refers to as ‘monster music,’ because she was ready to end her life by running into a concrete wall…She had been going through a lot – finally in remission from cancer, but was having a really hard time making ends meet…rent and bills…taking care of her children…So, she said, she was set to do it. End it all. Then, as she was scanning stations, it stopped on 88.3 The Wind…the song, The River by Jordan Feliz was playing. Lisa said she got so filled with the Holy Spirit that she had to pull over, because she was crying so hard. Right there, in her car, she said she raised her hands asking God to take all of her burdens…her life…and lead her in the directions she should go. That afternoon,instead of driving into a wall, she picked her son up from school – took the long way home – but drove by a church, and she decided that was the one she was going to try out on Sunday. Now, she is going/serving that church…and she tells us that she has not changed the station on her car radio since that very day…She uses our app for working out, because she says it keeps her going. She recently did her first 5k since her cancer, and that miraculous day.
