DO: Pick the right forum for your topic. Example: Looking for a bumper sticker vendor? The Promotions forum would be the best place vs. your other options. Money question? Consider starting with a post to the Underwriting forum, etc.
DON’T: Send file attachments, get political, or send up inflammatory posts.
DO: Show love and respect for everyone’s time. Post summaries and links instead of page long press releases. Catch up on a conversation thread before adding your own reply (somebody might have beat you to your own point).
DO: Mark your subject line accordingly – When starting a new topic OR changing the subject of a previous topic, rather than replying to an old thread label the subject line to that topic.
DON’T: reply to a “test” post unless the sender asks you to. It’s the whole showing love and respect for everyone’s time thing.
DO: Stay on topic, have fun, and keep an open mind.
DON’T: Solicit business for your business. Personal / Business networking should take place off forum.
DO: Keep the “joke” replies to a minimum. We realize we have a room/forum FULL of DJs (who are all want-to-be-stand-up-comedians) but the jokes fuel other’s jokes and go on and on… in every forum member’s email box.
DON’T: Keep an ongoing personal thread going. Personal/private conversations need be that. When replying to someone’s question or thought directly to that person, please be considerate of the forum and remember to change the Reply to address to their personal email, rather than replying to the entire forum.
