12 Days of Hope
In early to mid December, CFR showcases 12 ministries and/or non-profits that are impacting the communities we serve. Honoring one organization per weekday, we present interview segments (stories) from staff, volunteers, and community members who have been impacted by their efforts. These are brief segments spread throughout the day, recorded and produced by members of the air staff. Social media posts also feature the people and facilities on their given day, as we make sure to take photos when we visit them or when they come in to record their segments.
Typically each day is sponsored by a business or group ($500 donation to CFR). Some of the sponsors don’t even want to be mentioned, while others allow us to thank them so that other business leaders might be encouraged to support Christian Family Radio, as well. For a station with a $400,000+ annual operating budget, the $6000 is a nice bonus for us.
Listeners report being encouraged to hear of the many ways God’s presence is impacting the community, and in some cases they are led to volunteer with one of the featured organizations or even start their own ministry. We have grown from having only a couple of the days sponsored to having all of them covered, and by our third year of this (2016) we had a waiting list of organizations to feature, always selecting several from each of our key cities (Bowling Green, Owensboro, Glasgow). Some are very local, but there are always a few that cover the region or further.
We are happy to share further details with any other CMB members who would like to develop their own 12 Days of Hope.
I’ve attached a few photos. Thank you for asking! We have so many wonderful promotions – Faith & Family Nights with our Minor League team, the Bowling Green Hot Rods…HONOR Event for Pastors…Socks For Seniors…National Day of Prayer events…and many on-air contests to give CDs from top artists and other gifts. Through our events and promotions, we collect hundreds of new stories per year that are used to encourage believers, reach the lost, and unite the voice of the Church.
