What is your favorite song?
I’m a Music Director. We don’t have favorite songs. We do have favorite reps.
What is the last book you’ve read?
“Looking For Lovely” by Annie Downs
What led you to a career in radio?
A career aptitude test in high school. I’ve been on the air since.
What advice would you give people new to the business?
Discover what makes you unique and do that. Ask people to mentor you.
Give a shoutout to someone who is making a difference in radio and what are they doing to make an impact?
Our Director of Radio, Dave Margalotti is creating an environment where creative people thrive and talent is nurtured. He’s an awesome guy to work for, and would you look at that…we’re hiring for middays. So get your demo in! I can’t recommend Family Life enough. I’ve been here 8-year already!
How do you refresh your creative energy at work?
I stream other stations to get a fresh perspective.
Amazon Echo or Google Home?
Alexa, could you answer this question for me?
What is your favorite part of your job?
Fundraising. We just finished a 4-day Sharathon and it was amazing. Best time of the year.
Who is your favorite air personality not on your staff and why do you like them?
Amanda Hildabrand. I record her show all the time and listen in my car. She just has an ease about her. She gets the whole companionship over content thing.
What was your last non-industry job?
I worked at a cookie store in college. I still make great cookies. (The secret is chocolate chunks, not chips.)
Tell me about a project or accomplishment that you consider to be the most significant in your career.
I was back selling “I Am Not Alone” by Kari Jobe when we got a call from a deeply overwhelmed pastor’s wife who was on her way to Niagara Falls to take her life. She stopped, turned her car around and called in. Hearing that song and the words after reminded her how loved she is and how there is hope in every situation. We have a counseling department here, so she was referred there. It’s not every job in the world that gives you the opportunity to be used by God to save a life.
Teach me something I don’t know in the next five minutes.
You can use iMovies to turn an aircheck and logo jpg into a Facebook video in about 2 minutes.
You’re a new addition to the crayon box. What color would you be and why?
Deeply Violet. I am an extroverted introvert. I love people, but they can overwhelm me.
